Ingenuity Helicopter: The First Flight on Mars

Finally, on April 3, 2021, the team began the process of deploying Ingenuity from the rover's belly. The process took several days, as the helicopter needed to be carefully maneuvered into position on the surface of Mars. On April 19, 2021, the helicopter was finally ready to fly.

The first flight was a short test, lasting just 39.1 seconds. Ingenuity rose to a height of 3 meters, hovered for a moment, and then landed back on the surface of Mars.
